Next week, Twitter turns 5.
There aren’t many five-year olds who’ve managed to accomplish what Twitter has in five short years–to go from start-up to household name. Here are a few facts Twitter released today to mark the occasion. We report these stats directly from the mouth of CNET bloggers:
It took three years, two months, and one day for Twitter to hit 1 billion tweets; now, a billion tweets are posted in the course of a week.
An average of 460,000 new accounts were created per day over the past month, and an average of 140 million tweets were posted per day.
Twitter now has 400 employees, 50 of whom have been hired since January.
Our take: Twitter is now more relevant than ever for job seekers. Now blow out that candle and make a wish.
